Hello! We’re the Allan Family.
We are the family who own and are selling Crystalbrook Retreat and developing the retreat centre – we grew up here on a farm at beautiful Crystalbrook and we consider ourselves the luckiest people on the planet.
We’re now sub-dividing part of our farm so more people get to experience the beautiful lifestyle here, and to create a spiritual community. We’re so excited that we’re getting to share our gorgeous part of the earth so you can have the kind of life, love and joys that we’ve experienced here.
About Us
There’s four things you should probably know about us:
1. There’s a lot of us. There’s Noel & Marilyn (otherwise known as the Breeders) who have been farming and making kids since time began. And their kids – Clinton, Brett, Rebekah, Leonie and Maryanne. And they’ve gone on to start finding their own loves of their lives and breed their own – Joshua, Alyssa, Paige and another on the way. And we can’t forget our wonderful matriach either – Granny is 92 and when she’s not being being a shop assistant/fashionista at the local Vinnie’s, she is keeping us giggling and on our toes.
Among us there is a two disability support workers, one community development officer, a creativity & spirituality workshop teacher, a farmer and an entrepreneur.
Add to that our minature horses, big horses, cats, guinea pigs, cows and a dog named Vinnie and we’re a veritable menagerie.
So yes, we’re big. And we like it that way.
2. We’re kind of kooky. We’re still working out how that happened, but we suspect it might be genetic. Whenever we’re together we like to laugh a LOT. We still like to play like we’re kids. We like to travel overseas together (Our last trip was to India for a month and included five of us). Whatever we’re doing, we like to have fun.
3. We really adore each other. We really love each other. Like a big happy puppy litter. We’re not sure if we got too much fresh air as kids, but we think each other is the bee’s knees. And that’s a really beautiful thing.
4. We love the country. We grew up in a crazy-beautiful part of the planet. We got to live in the country on a farm. We have had animals as best friends. We have campfires in the backyard. We have big Sunday lunches. We spend a lot of time on horseback. We think eating biscuits and cheese while watching the sunset every single day is normal. As the kids have grown up and moved away from Crystalbrook & the Whitsundays, we’ve realised not everyone gets to be this lucky. And we would really like people to be that lucky.
